We envisage uplifting PlaniN OpenLab™ into a full-fledged Centre of Excellence (CoE) — a nationally recognised hub where physical planning rigour meets foundational digital and AI research. The CoE will anchor collaborative innovation between planners, engineers, technologists, economists and institutions, driving a new generation of spatial and digital intelligence tools for India and beyond.

Academic and research institutions, individual researchers and research labs, investors, consultancy firms, technology companies and domain experts are all warmly invited and encouraged to join the OpenLab™ ecosystem. We believe the best innovations emerge at the intersection of diverse expertise and shared purpose.

PlaniN OpenLab™ is a platform for others to collaborate, where PlaniN brings the innovation and research rigour and the partner brings the operational horsepower, subject matter expertise and execution capability.

If developed by PlaniN, remains with PlaniN. This is the foundational intellectual property that PlaniN contributes to the collaboration.
Foreground IP
Shared with the collaborator. Every foreground IP or bouquet of foreground IPs is commercialised under the joint banner of a PlaniN–Collaborator JV format, or by forming a new firm/entity of choice as per the collaborator's preference.
Government / Grant Projects
Projects funded by the government or through grants can be made completely open source or available to the grant/funding provider on a case-to-case basis.
Confidentiality
A strict mutual NDA is entered into. PlaniN and collaborators are mutually bound to work in a containerised format — protecting all parties throughout the engagement.
Engagement terms are agreed upon via a formal agreement, with the JV structure or new entity format determined as per the collaborator's preference.

For enhanced life performance of flexible pavements wearing course near areas where rate at change of gradient is relatively high

Method for preventing high runoff on the hill slopes
A cost effective method is needed to allow for water penetration into the soil and delay the build up of deluges during heavy rain fall , to distribute the water along pre formed channels in a distributed manner. This may not help in cloud burst cases, but can significantly delay flash deluges.

Method and Material for slope protection work on a large area of hill slopes, as preventive measure to land slides.
We want to move beyond the high tensile steel wire mesh, geotextile and shortcreteing for stopping erosion from hill slopes. New material and method for the same to be developed, using resin based material in combination with high tensile polymer fibres. We want to develop such method.

Possibility of creating ice canopy, utilizing the snow fall over mountain roads , keeping them open for movement even during high snowfall, using the ice canopy
We want to experiment and see if the falling snow can be given an arch shape and the falling ice can be shaped as an ice canopy , allowing passage for troop movement underneath in strategically important locations where we want the connectivity to remain open even in the harsh months

We have designed couple of air pollution control/scrubbing and cooling units constructable with bricks, and can be solar powered , constructable along pedestrian path ways. We need to test them out a few of those, for results, and improve the design

Truck cabin cooling and scrubbing system , evaporative and hybrid
Cabin comfort for truck drivers is a necessary element for elongating trip lengths , through reducing fatigue, reduced fatigue related accidents , improve in cabin resting and sleeping conditions and protection of skin and eyes of drivers from heat , moisture and outside dust particles. An evaporative cooling system has been developed and we want to upgrade it to a solar , battery operated hybrid cooling system for trucks/commercial vehicles, that can run without the need for engine to idle, rather unconnected to engine operations, while scrubbing and cleaning the outside air .

Zero cellular network compatible road safety infra for women safety pedestrian corridors for select stretches, for making the cities and other hubs proactively safe for women

Bicycle paths and pedestrian safety can not be achieved truly , till the intersections are improved to accommodate full interchange for bicycles and pedestrians , with zero interaction with through vehicular traffic. We have the concepts ready, we want to do the on ground implementable solutions

Concepts are ready , the network tech is there, but the ideal vehicle size , and testing it out in a small campus like IIT Delhi might be needed.

To identify certain stretches along highways , where water logging and run off is observed due to lack of cross drainage, we want to find a cost effective way to make that happen through piped cross drainage possible without disrupting the road above

For fast and long life construction of residential and village lanes, with precast elements , which can be more durable than the traditional pavement blocks and cement concrete residential lanes , faster to install, and easy to disassemble and assemble, in case of a supply line or any other utility has to pass through
